Unsuccessful Instructor Candidates

Unsuccessful Instructor Candidates

Any instructor candidate who does not pass or is marked as unsuccessful during their enrolled instructor course can re-enroll in another course offering of the same program within one (1) year of unsuccessful evaluation. The instructor candidate must have been present for the in-person session for this option to be available; no-shows or requests to reschedule are not eligible under this policy.

Repeat enrollments due to an unsuccessful evaluation are not subject to the full tuition cost and must only pay the administrative processing fee as follows:
  • Lifeguarding Instructor: $200
  • Lifeguarding Instructor Re-Entry: $200
  • Lifeguarding Instructor Review: $175
  • First aid/CPR/AED Instructor: $175
  • Basic Life Support Instructor: $175

To request a reattempt, please send an email to support@proactacademy.com within one year of your original course date. Please note that course rescheduling is not guaranteed, and rescheduled classes may be canceled. If this occurs, you may choose an alternative date.

If you choose not to reattempt, or you do not reattempt within one year, please be advised that refunds are not
available following an evaluation, per our tuition policy. Your final evaluation status and tuition are considered
complete under the terms agreed upon at registration.

If a reattempt is not desired, a refund would not be an option, as an evaluation was given for services. The refund policy, as stated in these terms, would apply. The instructor candidate's unsuccessful or not evaluated grade will be the participant’s final grade to which the tuition is applied. Reschedule courses are not guaranteed to run and may be canceled. If a rescheduled class is canceled, the participant may choose an alternative date.

If an instructor candidate is unsuccessful on the second attempt, they must re-enroll in an instructor course and pay the full tuition fee; they are no longer eligible for exemption of tuition.

If the instructor candidate received a grade of unsuccessful and they believe they were not evaluated fairly, the instructor trainer did not conduct the class according to the American Red Cross guidelines and Instructor Trainer's Guide, or they were otherwise disadvantaged in some way from achieving a successful evaluation, they may appeal the evaluation according to the Review and Appeals policy

For students who believe they have been discriminated against in the grading and evaluation process, please see Complaints.
